Supply Management Specialist

As a Supply Management Specialist, you will be responsible for providing overall supply management support to include studies and assessments regarding property and equipment management, warehouse management, and supply systems.


  • Initiates, develops, installs, or administers a supply program.
  • Coordinates with internal or external customers. Oversees the implementation of actions involving requirements determination, acquisition of supplies and materials, manages property accountability systems, and assures that property is in place.
  • Develops and issues supply handbooks and other publications for agency or industry use. Sponsors and develops training programs, conferences and seminars.
  • Conducts surveys and studies of supply operations to determine proper application of improved supply methods or approved industry techniques.
  • Provides technical advice, guidance, and assistance on supply operations to agency or contractor personnel.
  • Develops, installs, or advises on financial or other management control programs for supply operations for such purposes as controlling operations, determining supply costs, planning and budgeting, and evaluating supply management performance.
  • Develops design specifications, reviews data processing systems that support supply programs, and documents additions, changes, or deletions.
  • Monitors and makes recommendations to modify inventory control systems for subordinate and regional level programs.
  • Evaluates storage and distribution systems for potential introduction of automated controls and systems of data flow and reports.
  • Other combinations of work that involve program management, or review, analysis, and recommending improvements in operations, programs, automated systems, methods, or procedures.

Requirements

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level: Conducting physical inventories and maintaining accurate inventory records using supply software or databases to ensure accuracy and accountability; Managing procurement, storage, distribution, and replenishment activities to ensure property is in place when and where needed.
